Abstract

The article aims at illustrating the characteristic and common features of the military justice system in force in the South American region, indicating the most recent developments and highlighting its peculiarities. After briefly introducing the general and essential aspects that characterize the military justice systems according to comparative methodologies, the article focuses on the characteristics of military justice in South America, analyzing the sources and highlighting the matters falling within its sphere of competence, especially following the processes of democratic transition and, consequently, the reforms that have affected the matter.
